Republicans in Congress just voted to reverse a landmark FCC privacy rule that opens the door for ISPs to sell customer data. Lawmakers provided no credible reason for this being in the interest of Americans, except for vague platitudes about “consumer choice” and “free markets,”
The argument for this was literally well it’s easy for internet companies like Facebook to track users and sell data and that’s not fair so ISPs should be able to. Instead of protecting consumers in the name of fairness, they exposed them. And that’s because they know where the money comes from.
Needless to say Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander will not be getting my vote again.
